No More Shine- Well Not on Your Face!

Don't you hate it when you see a photo of yourself and you are stealing all the shine but not in a good way? Acne has been my nemesis since puberty and my oily skin does not help the feud. Dealing with oily skin has been a process of trial and error for years but I found a couple products that helped ensure that my smile is the brightest part of my face in every photo I take. There's a big difference between excess oil and a glow!

1. A moisturizer.

I used to believe that since I had oily skin, moisturizing was the last thing I needed to do. I was wrong! You're skin's oil is not the same as "moisture." It's not hydration. You can't water a plant with oil, right? So you can't expect your skin to be hydrated by it's own oil, either. Hydration (moisture) means water, not oil, and all skin benefits from added hydration, since the skin's internal water content tends to evaporate. So in addition to drinking 64oz of water a day, choose a fragrance free, "oil-free" moisturizer to add extra hydration to your skin.

2. A primer.

A good primer is the key to keeping your makeup on your face especially in hot and humid weather. Even if your sweating, primers will keep your makeup in place.

3. Finishing Powder.

Finishing powder is essential- oily skin or not. Loose, pressed, colored or translucent, if you want your foundation to last it must be set.

4. A finishing spray.

A finishing spray is a weightless mist that will keep your skin matte all day without clogging your pores. Just a few pumps will keep the oil at bay.

5. Blotting sheets.

When all else fails blotting sheets are the way to go. They absorb shine without removing your makeup. You can keep them in your purse and go!

Honorable Mention Milk of Magnesia

This stuff works wonders for me. After I apply my moisturizer I apply a thin layer of milk of magnesia to my skin then apply my foundation. Even in 100 degree weather milk of magnesia keeps my face oil free. And its cheap!

  3. Wow, Milk of Magnesia! Who knew! Tamara, have you tried birth control for your skin because that is the only thing that helps mine. Also there is another primer by MAC it has an spf 50 and it's better for an oily skin. It helps control the oil.
